I know we are focused on the baaaadddd... things about the 80's, but you have to admit that one of the best things to come from the 80's is Beastie Boys....

They have been plastering thier new song 'check it out' over the air waves and it totally rocks!!!!

Also, Alan Thicke--remember him from the 80's???? Well, ya'll may already know this, but just in case.... his son Robyn Thicke has a cd out and I will admit to being a proud owner of it....it's pretty good (modern day funk--kinda sounds like Stevie Wonder at times)...and he's cute!!! I got it last summer and still listening to it......

Ok...good things from the 1980s...Prince & the Revolution soundtrack to Purple Rain...that incredible concert by The Clash in NYC...Annie Lennox's voice...strange hair colors not found in nature..."Word Up" by Cameo(that awesome bass line)...early Red Hot Chili Peppers(when they were still a Skater-punk band).I'll try to think of some more...I'm caught on that bass line right now.

Let's not forget Cyndi Lauper--my all time hero!!! screw Madonna--Cyndi was much cooler.... "word up"--good one, forgot about that one!Annie Lenox still looks majorly hot....

Have you seen those "I Love The 80s" shows on VH-1? My best friend and I watched them and couldn't stop laughing..brought back so many memories. i dressed as Cyndi Lauper for Halloween my 8th grade year. I can actually remember the first cassette tapes that I ever bought with my own money..."She's So Unusual"by Cyndi Lauper, "Private Dancer"by Tina Turner, and "Arena"by Duran Duran(I was 12 at the time). Of cousre my Mom insisted on listening to them to make sure I was being subjected to anything too sexy or Satanic. By the time I was in high school, the" Great Satanic Panic of the Midwest" was in full force, and I had to hide my music from my dad. he actually had one of the machines that plays the music backwards. Just thought of 2 other good things about the 1980s...Bloom County and The Far Side...Calvin and Hobbes too!

Some of my favorite 80's movies....

          1. Back to the Future
          2. Sixteen Candles
          3. Dirty Dancing

I'm sure there's more....but those are definitely on the top of my list.

Maybe it's because I live near Santa Cruz now..but I was obsessed with the movie "The Lost Boys"...which wasn't too bad if you could get over the whole heinous Corey Feldman-Corey Haim crap and just focus on the vampires...I went through a whole gypsy-inspired phase because of the clothes in that movie...let me see...Depeche Mode(whom I still love) and Roxy Music...although I can't stand seeing Bryan Ferry "flippy hair" nowadays.

lost boys is a great movie. one of the best vampire movies ever, imo. sleep all day, party all night. never grow old, never die. it's fun to be a vampire.
